Walk for Ethan - May

Walk for Ethan takes place in the springtime in May. This was a fundraising event to benefit the Children’s Cancer Fund. Ethan’s family, who coordinated the event, said they wanted to do something to help other families, as they were helped while Ethan was on treatment and making numerous trips to Albuquerque. Some of our biggest supporters are those families who have seen first hand the significance of the Children’s Cancer Fund’s support.

Camp Enchantment - June

In June, CCF participates in Camp Enchantment by hosting the dance on the final night of camp. Each year brings a new theme, such as Pirates of the Carribean, The Olympics, or Super Heroes. Regardless of the theme, each year brings a bright smile to the kids who are well enough to participate.

Erin Trujeque Memorial Golf Tournament - July

Established in loving memory of Erin Trujeque (November 5, 1972 – September 21, 1985), this award winning event has raised nearly $5 million to help New Mexico’s children with cancer and their families cope with the day-to-day needs of living with and fighting cancer.

The 24th Annual Erin Trujeque Memorial is slated for July 8 and 9, 2010, beginning with the Pro-Am, sponsored by RAKS Building Supply at the UNM Championship Golf Course. The Gala, sponsored by Sandia Resort & Casino and Frank’s Supply, will be held at Sandia Casino on the evening of July 8th. On July 9th, the Erin Trujeque Memorial, sponsored by Lexus of Albuquerque. This year will be out celebratory 25th anniversary event!

CCF Night at the ‘Topes - August

The Isotopes have generously donated game tickets for the children and their families, who were treated to a entertaining evening and given a respite from the daily challenges of cancer treatment. We express our gratitude to the staff at the Isotopes for their continued support to CCF and for making the “Night at the ‘Topes” possible each year since 2006.

Casino Costume Fundraiser - October

The Hollywood Casino Costume Fundraiser, sponsored by Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, The Miller Financial Group is being held on Friday October 30th, 2009 from 6:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown Hotel on Louisiana Blvd. The proceeds from this event will be earmarked for the acquisition of a residence to house families traveling from outside of the metro area for cancer treatment here in Albuquerque. The fundraiser costume party will include the fabulously entertaining band, “Vanilla Pop,” numerous gaming tables, food and drinks, and a live auction that will make available exciting packages for guests. Thanksgiving Meal - November

Every Thanksgiving holiday, CCF gives families in need a grocery gift card to Wal-Mart to prepare their own delicious Thanksgiving meal for their family. $50 and $100 gift cards are given depending on the needs and size of the family.

Holiday Gift Giving - December

The holiday season is rapidly approaching and for most of us, it is time for family, tree trimming, and gift giving. Many families who have a child fighting cancer find themselves in emotional and financial stress and are not fully able to participate in the spirit of the holidays. Fortunately, every year the Children’s Cancer Fund, with the help of generous donors and volunteers in the community, fulfill Christmas wishes to over 20 families.
