“We Are All Related” Concho Belt - A Collaboration Of Love Benefiting The Children's Cancer Fund Of New Mexico

conchabelt1

Not only do the 13 artists share a common bond as Native Americans, but they have also had their lives touched by cancer. Most of the individual pieces of the “We Are All Related” concho belt have been created in memory of loved ones who have battled childhood cancer. Allen Aragon’s piece is in memory of his nephew, Rowdy who died of cancer at the age of 18. Allen coordinated this effort to help New Mexico’s kids and their families cope with the day-to-day needs of living with and fighting cancer. He is a member of the Children's Cancer Fund of New Mexico’s Board of Directors.

Over the past year, the belt has been featured at the following exhibits:

  • Santa Fe Indian Market, Santa Fe, NM
  • Autrey National Center, Los Angeles, CA
  • Weems Art Fest, Albuquerque, NM
  • Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian, New York City
  • Heard Museum, Phoenix, AZ
